Sorry for the lack of posting. I'll start being more active by end of the month. Btw holy crap look at the difference. I should have flopped these but whatever. So to the right is all Nel drew her a year ago. I wanted to use this image again since it sold well. But I notice too many errors in her face and was too embarrassed to reprint it. So I redrew over on top of it and recolored it. Look how much better the left side is!!! I didn't think I'd do that well. I colored her so much more vivid. The old side is soooo dull compared. Look I even drew her hand better. This time she has finger nails too!

Sorry I'm just proud of myself.

Spokane Otaku-Con 2010

Spokane Otaku-Con 2010

I was a dealer at this years Otaku-Con! It's local Spokane Washington anime convention. This is it's second year. This year there many more attendants than last year, but the con is still fairly small. I think about 500 people came this year. The shots above are my table display.

This year was lots of fun. I can't say much about the events of the con, but I had fun chatting with people who stop by my table. I wouldn't recommend this convention to anyone living outside of Spokane yet. It's still very disorganized. Everything seem to be done last minute. I expect the same thing will happen next year as well. But if you're a anime nerd with a group of friends who mostly want to cosplay and hung out this is the place to be.

So things that happened. I got to talk to a lot of people about my coloring process. I did a art trade with a girl who was also a dealer at the con. Lots of people ask me how old I was and if I was in high school. They seemed disappointed when I said no. I think they wanted to prise me for being young and talented. But no I'm too old for that I guess....

I got upset over only one matter. A man with a camera kept coming around taking videos of my work even after I said to stop. He didn't understand why I wouldn't want this. Next time this happens I won't be as kind.

At the end of Saturday I had a interesting conversation with a mother. She was helping her daughter sell her art at a table. She must have been in high school I think. She wasn't selling too well. I felt pretty bad as I told her that the next day I expected things wouldn't get better. Last days of small conventions don't do well. You don't have that rest of people spending money before they leave like at Sakura Con. For small conventions they just don't come. And I was right. At the same time it maybe me feel pretty good because I wasn't very close to her daughters table which means she must have thought I knew what I was doing and would be able to answer her questions to pick me.

The last memorable thing was a grandmother taking her granddaughter around the dealers hall. The grandparent came back to my table toward the end of Saturday and told me she really appreciated my work because it was so happy. I thought that was cute and made my day.

Sunday I only was there from 10 till maybe 2pm. I caught the last rush and booked it. Over all I did very well at the convention and want to do it next year.

Sakura Con 2010

I'm soooo super late on making this post. Some friends wanted more detail on my trip so here it is!!! Sorry if some of the details are a little off or incomplete.

So I drove over with my friend Jackie and her little sister. My sister sadly couldn't make due to work. I on the other had requested this weekend off three months in advance!!!!!

So we left at like....6 in the morning I think. It took us about 5 hours to get there. It didn't really feel like that long of a drive.

We got to the hotel and I was soooo happy to see my winning mascot drawing first thing when I get through the doors!!! There was a nice big board! Sadly I forgot to take a picture of it. We then explored downtown!

Pike Place Market was first of course.

That place is always fun to go through. Although we didn't really get much further than that. We went to the curiously shop were Jackie's sister brought a shrunken head. Then got some food. Then we headed back to the hotel.....to sleep. The Ride over made us tired. ^^;

And what could this be right out side the convention center!!!! That's right banners of my mascot!!!

Alright so after this point I mostly stop taking pictures. I worked from opening to close selling at the artist ally. So I didn't take many pictures of cosplayers or cool/odd things going on.

I did do one thing! I got Ito Noizo to sign my art books. I drew her a picture. It was a fast drawing but she was excited to get it. I was excited that she was excited!!!! XD I couldn't get a get photo of her since she was looking down signing the whole time.

That's pretty much it for photos. I am really sorry for those who wanted more. Maybe next time I'll be better with that camera.

I'm a little sad that the sakura con website doesn't look like this anymore.

So as far as the artist alley goes. It was awesome! I didn't make as much as I hoped but no one really did and I made my money back so I'm very happy about that. I didn't make it back when you add in the hotel price, but I'm going to ignore that fact, lol. I had so many people give me their congrats on the winning the mascot. I really want to do the artist alley again. It was so much fun and I learn so much to make it even better next year.

These two lovely girls cosplayed my winning mascot design for Sakura Con 2010. I'm so happy they stop by to say hi and let me see their outfits. The girl on the left asked me to sign her dress which I was happy to do.

Haha I need to make a post about my trip to Sakura Con. It took a long time to finally get my pictures uploaded to the computer. Plus I've been working and trying to stay off the computer recently. But it will come up hopefully this week.
